"Study hard, get
some practical summer work experience, join and support a
relevant technical society." |

"Engineering is a social job. It involves communicating with other people.
It involves writing so you do need to learn to write. You do need to learn
to speak to people. Occasionally, you're going to be asked to stand up in
a meeting room full of folks and tell them what you think. It's your
opportunity to make sure that your point of view comes across . . .
Engineering, by and large, is people working together to make something
happen."

"I would recommend all the students that they get involved in the
technical society. Not just go to the meetings but meet the people, both
the students and the working folks and get to know them. If by chance you
make a connection for a job, well that's terrific. That 's not the primary
reason for their existence but it is a natural opportunity."
