Software Engineering Manager, managing a group working on speech processing and speech recognition.
Jeff became interested in computers when he was in junior high, and, while he never took any classes in computer science, he spent a lot of time programming for projects and trying out things that he was studying in his mathematics classes.

"I found that the pace in Industry is a little bit more vibrant. There's deadlines and people -- although I tend not to think of them so much as deadlines as there are people that want the result that I'm working on -- and that was one of the things that I found missing a little bit in Academics, that I published my thesis and no one seemed to really be waiting for the result or there was no sort of follow up activity and that was a little anti-climactic I thought."
