Mike Savage
has served as Executive Director of the
South Shore Educational Collaborative
in Hingham, MA for almost 30 years. He manages over 250 employees
and a broad range of programs and operations. The South Shore
Educational Collaborative provides educational programs and services
to school districts on the South Shore of Massachusetts, that are
more efficiently and economically provided through a collaborative
effort. Examples include programs and services for special needs
students and others unable to be served economically and efficiently
in school districts, multifaceted educational offerings, to member
districts through various programs and services, technology
services, professional development programs, and others.
Prior to his work at the South Shore Educational Collaborative, Mike
Savage worked in a variety of capacities at Massachusetts public
school districts, mostly focusing on special education services. He
also served as Director of the Massachusetts Center for Program
Development and Evaluation, where his work also focused on special
education program development and evaluation. He has also taught at
the high school and college level. In addition, he worked for
Heuristics, Inc., a research and evaluation firm, heading up its
special education division.
Mike Savage has served leadership roles with several organizations
including the Southeastern Special Education Regional Advisory
Council, the Massachusetts State Advisory Commission for Special
Education, and the Massachusetts Organization for Educational
Collaboratives. He is also a member of the Administrators of Special
Education (ASE) and the Council for Exceptional Children. He is the
past president of the Massachusetts Organization of Educational
Collaboratives, and an associate member of the Massachusetts
Association of School Superintendents. He is certified at a
Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.
He received an Ed. D. in Special Education from Boston College in
1971, a CAGS Degree in Special Education from Boston University in
1967, a Ed. M. in Special Education from Boston University in 1964,
and a B.S. in Education from State College at Boston in 1963.
