Admissions
Tufts University
Allan Clemow, recently
retired at Director of Admissions at
Tufts University. He holds an unusual combination of dual roles at the
university. A Mechanical Engineer by education, he had been a member of
the faculty in the School of Engineering at Tufts since the late 1960's.
His teaching responsibilities and research have centered on design
education and product design.
He began working with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in the
1970's to increase the numbers of secondary school students who were
applying to and enrolling in the School of Engineering. Since that time
Clemow has had increasing responsibility in the Tufts admissions effort
while all during that time maintaining a presence in the classroom in
engineering as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering.
Clemow has many years of experience working in admissions and unique
experience working with potential engineering candidates and seeing the
transition from high school senior to admissions candidate to university
student.
